I wrote and recorded this song about two weeks before me and my boyfriend's one year anniversary. He was with me all he time, and I wanted this song to be a surprise, so I actually ended up finishing it the day I recorded in the studio so he wouldn't hear it. Originally, it was supposed to be a gift for him, but it came out so well that I added it to the EP. I'm glad, because it's a favorite. The song is word for word our relationship, which is how I wanted it to be: unique to us. He had asked me when we first started dating to write a song for him, but I could never find the right words, until this song. The first time he heard it was at a show we played together. I paused in our set to tell him I had a surprise, and played it for him in front of the audience. So obviously, this song is close to my heart.
lyrics
The moment you touched me, I felt a spark
It was the first time I’d ever thought of giving you my heart
And the pulse running through my veins
Told me nothing would ever be the same
The first time we kissed when I snuck up to you
The way your face lights up when I walk into the room
And the rivers running down my face
Were washed away with your fingertips
I waited until this moment, this very moment
For the words to fall flawlessly upon the page
So, get closer
All I want is all my life with you
And I’ve proclaimed to all the world that I love you
Oh the moment that I knew
I fell for you
We stayed up til sunlight, talked the whole time
Next thing I knew, it was your hand in mine
And your lips on my lips
Sending chills down my spine
I waited until this moment, this very moment
For the words to fall flawlessly upon the page
So, get closer
All I want is all my life with you
And I’ve proclaimed to all the world that I love you
Oh the moment that I knew
I’ll probably laugh as I’m singing to you
But it’s me, so what else would I do?
Can’t wait to see you smile
While I look into your eyes
And everything that’s mine
All I want is all my life with you
And I’ve proclaimed to all the world that I love you
Oh the moment that I knew
I waited until this moment, this very moment
For the words to fall flawlessly upon the page
